Aligning Your Vision With Your Purpose
Take a moment to explore the six spheres of your life: Mind, Body, Relationships, Fun & Adventure, Money, and Service to Others. Imagine the future you genuinely want in each area. When you view these spheres together, you begin crafting a life that reflects your deepest sense of purpose. The next step is to align that larger vision with the values that matter most to you.
Defining Success: Your Personal Benchmark
Success can mean something unique in each sphere. For instance, you might aspire to cultivate a mindful inner dialogue (Mind), achieve vibrant physical health (Body), foster supportive and meaningful bonds (Relationships), explore the world through new experiences (Fun & Adventure), secure the financial freedom to live comfortably (Money), or create positive change in the world (Service to Others). Ultimately, you decide what success looks like in every part of your life, free from external expectations.
Examples of Success Criteria in Each Sphere
- Mind
- Definition: Cultivating clarity, emotional resilience, and lifelong learning.
- Why it matters: A strong mental framework enriches every other sphere, providing focus and self-awareness.
- Filtering question: “Does this choice improve my mental clarity and support my personal growth?”
- Body
- Definition: Feeling physically energized and healthy.
- Why it matters: When you prioritize well-being—like nutrition, movement, and rest—you fuel all your other pursuits.
- Filtering question: “Will this action enhance my physical health and vitality?”
- Relationships
- Definition: Deep, supportive connections that encourage mutual growth and understanding.
- Why it matters: Meaningful bonds offer empathy, joy, and shared experiences that elevate life.
- Filtering question: “Does this decision bring me closer to the people who matter most or strengthen our connections?”
- Fun & Adventure
- Definition: Exploring new experiences, cultivating joy, and embracing spontaneity.
- Why it matters: Balancing work with play increases creativity and zest for life, helping you stay motivated and fulfilled.
- Filtering question: “Does this opportunity bring a sense of fun or excitement that enriches my daily routine?”
- Money
- Definition: Achieving the financial stability or abundance that supports your ideal lifestyle.
- Why it matters: With a secure financial foundation, you can focus on deeper goals without constant worry.
- Filtering question: “Does this move bring me closer to the financial freedom I want, or does it detract from it?”
- Service to Others
- Definition: Contributing your time, skills, or resources to uplift individuals or communities.
- Why it matters: Aligning personal goals with a broader purpose can be a powerful source of fulfillment and motivation.
- Filtering question: “Will this choice allow me to positively impact those around me or a cause I care about?”
Turning Vision Into Reality
Having a clear sense of what success looks like in each sphere gives you a personalized roadmap. Each opportunity, request, or decision can now be evaluated against your criteria: Does this align with the vision I have for my mind, body, relationships, fun & adventure, money, or service to others—or does it steer me off course? If a commitment conflicts with your need for meaningful connections or your pursuit of physical well-being, it’s likely not the right fit. Conversely, if an experience fosters growth, excitement, or service, it aligns beautifully with what you truly value.
Your Exercise: Craft a Personal Vision Across All Six Spheres
Below is a simple process to articulate your vision for each sphere—ensuring that every aspect of your life moves in harmony with your true priorities. (Don’t forget to use our worksheet if you’d like a structured template!)
Step 1: Refine Your Vision
- Create a vivid picture of what fulfillment looks like for your Mind, Body, Relationships, Fun & Adventure, Money, and Service to Others.
- Ask yourself: “Who am I in each sphere? What do I spend my time doing? How do I feel?”
Step 2: Set Your Success Criteria and Filtering Questions
- Identify the qualities that matter most in each sphere—freedom, balance, growth, impact, security, etc.
- Convert each quality into a “filtering question” that helps you quickly assess any new decision or opportunity.
Step 3: Take Action and Share
- Choose five steps you can take this month to move each sphere of your life closer to your ideal—perhaps scheduling a daily reflection (Mind), planning weekly workouts (Body), organizing a meaningful meetup (Relationships), booking an exciting weekend trip (Fun & Adventure), reviewing your budget (Money), or volunteering locally (Service to Others).
- For accountability, share your vision and action steps with a trusted friend, mentor, or group who can support your journey.
Key Takeaways
- Define Success in All Spheres: Release external pressures and focus on what truly matters to you across mind, body, relationships, fun & adventure, money, and service to others.
- Align Your Vision With Purpose: Each step you take should reflect your deeper “why,” making it more deliberate, authentic, and fulfilling.
By clarifying your vision in these six areas, you build a life where every choice resonates with your personal definition of success. Consistent, aligned action in each sphere helps you not only reach your goals, but truly enjoy the journey along the way.
